Drive-over Flood Protection Gates

Seamless Flood Defence. Uninterrupted Access.

Overview

The Obermeyer Drive-Over Flood Protection Gate system is engineered to provide robust flood and wave protection while maintaining vehicle and pedestrian access during normal conditions. It incorporates a flush-mounted, traffic-capable gate panels that remain unobtrusive under everyday use, yet deploys instantly in a flood event to protect entrances, roadways, parking structures and embankment openings.

Located at crucial access points such as garage entries, subway portals, levee crossings and highway embankments, this solution ensures both safety and usability are preserved.

Key Features & Advantages
  • Flush profile capable of highway traffic and pedestrian use, ensuring normal access under non-flood conditions.

  • Rapid deployment to serve as a sealed flood barrier at key openings — even in case of power failure.

  • Highly durable construction, designed to withstand marine salt exposure, road traffic loads, debris impact and harsh environmental conditions.

  • Modular height options (standard heights: 1 m, 2 m, 3 m) and “unlimited span” capability, with custom heights available on request.

  • Minimal maintenance requirement thanks to robust materials and simple mechanical design — making it cost-efficient over its lifecycle.

Applications & Use Cases

Obermeyer’s pneumatically actuated gates are used globally in a wide variety of environments and project types. Below are some of the common application verticals:

  • Parking Garages & Subterranean Entrances: Prevents flash-flood intrusion while preserving everyday vehicle access.

  • Commercial or Residential Building Entrances: Protects lobbies, service zones or storefronts without permanently blocking access.

  • Roadway, Levee & Embankment Openings: Provides flood protection where vehicular traffic must cross levees or embankments — keeping roads open in dry conditions and safe during surges.

  • Urban Flood Mitigation: Ideal for underpasses, tunnel entrances, subway portals in flood-prone urban zones — blending infrastructure access with flood defence.
